Welcome by Professor Field

The major aim of this research programme is to identify individuals who are at risk of developing lung cancer using the developing molecular genetic technologies. This web site will provide you with an overview of all of our research programmes and an in-depth insight into the methods and technologies we are currently utilising.

The Liverpool Lung Project (LLP) is the major research programme, funded by the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, which is a ten year study aimed at developing a molecular-epidemiological risk assessment model. In addition, we are co-ordinating a major European study into early lung cancer www.euelc.com with 14 Partners.

The potential impact of this research is to accurately identify individuals who are at risk of developing lung cancer and provide interventive measures.
